BEARCATS BLOW OUT WOLFPACK AS THURSDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 4-0; TONIGHT UCF AND BYU FACE OFF

BEARCATS BLOW OUT WOLFPACK; TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 4-0; UCF VS BYU FOR FRIDAY NIGHT MATCHUP

THURSDAY NIGHT  TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 4-0!!!

CINCINNATI 44   NC STATE 14

Zach Collaros threw for 2 scores and ran for 2 and the Bearcats defense held NC State to -26 yards rushing as the Bearcats embarrassed the Wolfpack 44-14 last night. Bearcats running back Isaiah Pead ran for 167 yards and a score and the defense recorded 6 sacks to go to 3-1. NC State drops to 2-2. The Bearcats easily covered the 7.5 point spread taking my record to 4-0.

FRIDAY NIGHT TAKE EM TO THE BANK

UCF (2-1)  (+2) AT BYU (1-2)

I am 2-1 with my Friday night TAKE EM TO THE BANK picks with Boise State covering the 20.5 point spread against Toledo.
UCF  is coming off of a heartbreaking 10-17 loss at Florida International. BYU has lost two straight after a whipping at Texas and being blown out at home by Utah. UCF had the #2 defense in the nation but I can't see BYU losing 3 straight. I'm going with BYU to cover the 2 points.

BYU -2 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

THURSDAY NIGHT TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

THURSDAY NIGHT TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES FOR 4-0

Last week I hit my TAKE EM TO THE BANK pick choosing LSU to cover 3.5 against Mississippi State to take my record to 3-0. This week I will try for 4-0 with a touch matchup with North Carolina State and Cincinnati.

NORTH CAROLINA STATE (2-1) (+7.5) AT CINCINNATI (2-1)

Both are coming off of wins, both over cupcakes. As far as I'm concerned, these are two evenly matched schools. The Bearcats may have enough firepower to cover.

Cincinnati  -7.5 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

FRIDAY TAKE EM THE BANK GOES 2-1 AS #5 BOISE STATE ROLLS; SATURDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK; TWO TOP 25 TEAMS LED TOP 25 ACTION

FRIDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 2-1 AS #5 BOISE STATE ROLLS

#5 BOISE STATE 40 TOLEDO 15

Kellum Moore threw for 5 TDs last night as Boise State overcame a fiesty Toledo team and rolls 40-15 covering the 20 point spread, taking me to 2-1 this year.  The Heisman Trophy candidate was 32/42/455/5/1. Tyler Shoemaker caught 3TDs and Doug Martin had 122 yards receiving.
Next up for Boise State gets Tulsa at home while Toledo travels to Syracuse.

SATURDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK PICKS

Last week I went 4-1 with my picks, this week it was hard to find easy matchups but here I go:

#2 OKLAHOMA (1-0) (-3) AT #4 FLORIDA STATE (2-0)

The premier matchup of the week is basically an elimination game. The Sooners had a week to prepare for the Seminoles and it will show.

OKLAHOMA -3 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

#15 OHIO STATE (2-0) (+2.5) AT MIAMI (0-1)

Two maligned programs face off. The Buckeyes looked sluggish last week as Miami licked their wounds after a heartbreaker against Maryland. This should be a good one but Miami squeezes one out at home.

MIAMI -2.5 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

# 13 SOUTH CAROLINA (2-0) (-16) VS NAVY (2-0)

South Carolina is a solid team, but Navy is tough! 16 points is too much!

NAVY +16 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

#6 STANFORD (2-0) (-9) AT ARIZONA (1-1)

Stanford whipped Arizona last year 42-17. Stanford being anything less than a 10 point favorite is a gift!

STANFORD -9 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

NORTH CAROLINA (2-0) (-10) VS VIRGINIA (2-0)

I love the Heels! The Cavaliers have historically given them a hard time, but the Heels whipped them in VA last year. This year it will be closer but Heels cover.

NORTH CAROLINA -10 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

TOP 25 IN ACTION

#1 ALABAMA (2-0) VS NORTH TEXAS

THURSDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 3-0 AS LSU DEFENSE CRUSHES MISSISSIPPI STATE; #5 BOISE STATE IN ACTION TONIGHT

TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 3-0!!!

My Thursday TAKE EM TO THE BANK is now 3-0 as #3 LSU dominates Mississippi State last night to cover the 3.5 point spread.

#3 LSU 19  Mississippi State 6

LSU's defense held Mississippi State to less than 200 yards and Morris Claiborne had 2 interceptions as LSU stomped Mississippi State in Starksville.
Next up for LSU is a trip to West Virginia and Mississippi State will look to stop the bleeding staying home to face Louisiana Tech.

FRIDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK

I am 1-1 with my Friday TAKE EM TO THE BANK as Missouri loss but covered the 9.5 point spread against #19 Arizona.

#5 Boise State (1-0) (-20) at Toledo (1-1)

We haven't seen Boise State since they house trained the Georgia Bulldogs at the Georgia Dome Labor Day weekend. Toledo took #15 Ohio State to the wire last week. Last year Boise State blasted the Rockets 57-14. I expect more of the same. Kellum Moore rolls!

BOISE STATE COVERS -20 TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

Thursday Night Take Em To The Bank: Big SEC Showdown!!!

THURSDAY NIGHT TAKE EM TO THE BANK

I am 2-0 this year with my Thursday night TAKE EM TO THE BANK Picks after winning last week with Oklahoma State easily covering the 14 vs Arizona. This week we have two SEC teams battling in Starksville, MS.

#3 LSU (2-0) (-3.5) at Mississippi State (1-1)

Mr. Diehard's Take: This is a must win for the Bulldogs who lost a heartbreaker vs Auburn last week 34-41 while LSU rolled over Northwestern State 49-3. A Bulldog lost will put them at 0-2 in SEC play, basically eliminating them from the SEC West Championship race. LSU have BCS visions dancing in their heads after the beatdown of Oregon in Week 1.
Interesting note: Bulldogs are 1-7 vs LSU at home in last 8 games they played. As improved as the Bulldogs are, I think they run out of gas in the 2nd half and LSU covers.

LSU COVERS THE  3.5  TAKE EM TO THE BANK!!!

TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 4-1; WEEK 3 TOP 25

TAKE EM TO THE BANK GOES 4-1

A solid week Saturday with my only loss being Oregon State failing to cover the 20.5 spread against Wisconsin. After an embarrassing loss to Sacramento State in Week 1 then the blowout 35-0 loss against Wisconsin; how safe is Coach Mike Riley's job?

My total Saturday TAKE EM TO THE BANK is now 7-3 (70%).

RECAP:
Alabama -10 WIN
Stanford -20.5 WIN
Oregon State +20.5 LOSS
Florida -23.5 WIN
Houston -21.5 WIN

CFOD WEEK 3 TOP 25

Alabama is still my #1 team after manhandling Penn State 27-11. Auburn is back in the Top 25 after a thrilling 41-34 win over Mississippi State with a last minute goalline stop. Also new to the Top 25 is Michigan who had a last minute comeback win vs Notre Dame. Dropping out is Mississippi State and Missouri.

Arizona State Pulls It Off In OT; Saturday's Take Em To The Bank Picks!

#20 Arizona State Upends #24 Missouri In OT; Friday Take Em To The Bank Covers

#20 Arizona State 37   #24 Missouri 30 OT

My Friday Take Em To The Bank goes 1-1 as Missouri covers the 9.5 but doesn't win in a thrilling 37-30 OT loss to Arizona State. Arizona State QB Brock Oswiler went 24/32/353/3/0. WR Aaron Pflugrad set a career high catching 8 passes for 180 yards and 2TDs. Jamal Miles added 6 catches for 50 yards and 2 TDs. Miles also threw a 35 yard pass for a TD.
Next up for the 2-0 Arizona State is at a tough test at Illinois and 1-1 Missouri is at home vs Western Illinois.

Saturday's Take Em To The Bank Picks!

Last week I went 3-2 with wins picking LSU, USF and ECU and losing picking Georgia and Southern Miss.

#1 Alabama (1-0) (-10) at Penn State (1-0)

Defense is scary!!!
Alabama -10 Take Em To The Bank!!!

#6 Stanford (1-0) (-20.5) at Duke (0-1)

This could get ugly quick in Durham, NC.
Stanford -20.5 Take Em To the Bank!!!

#12 Wisconsin (1-0) (-20.5) vs. Oregon State (0-1)

Oregon State was embarrassed by Sacramento State last week. They lose but cover the 20.5.
Oregon State +20.5 Take Em To The Bank!!!

#19 Florida (1-0) (-23.5) vs UAB (0-0)

Florida looked pretty good last week. This should be a layup
Florida -23.5 Take Em To The Bank!!!

Thursday Night Take Em To The Bank 2-0; Two Top 25 Teams Face Off Tonight!

Thursday Night Take Em To The Bank 2-0

# 7 Oklahoma State 37  Arizona 14

I told you it wouldn't be close as JR WR standout Justin Blackmon caught 2 TDs, RB Joseph Randle ran for 121 yards and QB Brandon Weeden threw for 397 yards as #7 Oklahoma State smashed Arizona 37-14, easily covering the 14 spoint spread.
Arizona QB Nick Foles threw for 398 but the Cowboys stuffed their running game, holding the Wildcats to only 41 yards.
Next up for Oklahoma State is a winnable game at Tulsa, setting up a possible meeting of undefeates in Week 4 vs. Texas A/M. Arizona will prepare to take on the air attack of Stanford at home.

Friday Night Take Em To the Bank

#24 Missouri (1-0)  +9.5 at #20 Arizona State (1-0)

I'm 0-1 with my Friday night picks after taking TCU to cover against Baylor.
Missouri looked sluggish last week vs Miami (OH) only managing 17 points. Arizona State easily handled UC Davis. Although I think Arizona State wins this game, 9.5 points is too much.

Missouri +9.5 Take Em To The Bank!

Thursday, September 8, 2011

Thursday Night Take Em To The Bank

I'm 1-0 with my Thursday Take Em To The Bank Pick with Mississippi State easily covering the spread. This week features my #7 team Oklahoma State taking on Arizona.

#16 TCU 1st To Go Down, Top 25 Saturday Matchups and Take Em To The Bank

Friday Wrap-Up

Baylor 50 #16 TCU 48

Mr. Diehard's Take: He is that good!
My Friday Night Take Em To The Bank starts 0-1 thanks to that kid!

QB Robert Griffin III lit up last year's #1 ranked defense going 21/27 for 359 yards and 5 big TDs in a shootout in Texas with the Bears racking up 564 total yards. RB Terrance Ganaway rushed for 120 yards and a TD and caught 6 passes for 126 yards and 2 TDs. WR Kendall Wright caught 12 balls for 189 yards and 2 TDs. Chancey Casey and Mike Hicks led the defense with 10 tackles each.

TCU's QB Casey Pachall threw for 251 yards, 4 TDs and 1 Int. WR Logan Brock caught 2 TDs to lead the Horned Frogs Offense.  TCU is out of my Top 25!

#19 Michigan State 28 Youngstown State 6

SATURDAY TAKE EM TO THE BANK MATCHUP OF THE WEEK

#3 LSU (0-0) (+3.5) vs #4 Oregon (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's Take: This is a big one. A rare first week Top 5 matchup. Oregon comes to Jerryworld looking to atone for the loss against Auburn for the National Championship last season. LSU is ready to get on the field and take out their frustrations with being in the news for all the wrong reasons the last few weeks.

Its hard for me to go against an SEC team in a big game.
LSU +3.5 wins outright.  Take Em To The Bank!

Other Take Em To The Bank Picks

#6 Boise State (0-0) (-3.5) vs #18 Georgia (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's Take: A big game for both teams at the Georgia Dome. Quiet as its kept this could be the game that determines if Georgia coach Mark Reicht stays on or gets off the hot seat. I can't see Boise State whipping Georgia in their own backyard.
Georgia +3.5 in the upset. Take Em To The Bank!

#15 Notre Dame (0-0) (-10.5) vs USF (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's Take: Notre Dame looks to righten the ship after a subpar debut season for coach Chip Kelly. But USF coach Skip Holtz made a national name out of East Carolina by surprising ranked teams. Maybe not a win, but USF will go blow for blow with ND.

USF +10.5 covers. Take Em To The Bank!

#14 South Carolina (0-0) (-20.5) vs East Carolina (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's Take: Speaking of the ECU Pirates, they are on the same stage today that they were when they upset a Top 20 team in Virginia Tech at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Steve Spurrier is playing Quarterback musical chairs and the Pirates are a dangerous offense team and has a much improved defense. This game will be closer than what people think.

East Carolina +20.5 covers. Take Em To The Bank!

Southern Miss (0-0) (-13.5) vs. Louisiana Tech (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's Take: Southern Miss is a sleeper BCS Buster, Louisiana Tech is Louisiana Tech. I smell blowout!

Southern Miss (-13.5) covers easy. Take Em To The Bank!

Other CFOD Top 25 Teams in Action:

#1. Alabama vs. Kent State
#2 Oklahoma vs. Tulsa
#5 Florida State vs. Louisiana Monroe
#7 Stanford vs. San Jose State
#8 Oklahoma State vs. Louisiana Lafayette
#10 Nebraska vs. Chattanooga
#11 Arkansas vs. Missouri State
#12 Virginia Tech vs. Appalichian State

Week 1 Friday Night Matchups

Tonight we get to see last year's undefeated TCU Horned Frogs in action on the road at Baylor and Michigan State open up at home against Youngstown State.

Mr. Diehard's Friday Night Take Em To The Bank Special

#16 TCU (0-0) (-3.5) at Baylor (0-0)

ATS Trend Fact: TCU 3-0 ATS vs Baylor Last 3 Games

Mr. Diehard's Take: Tonight we see a rebuilding TCU with only 8 returning starters take on Baylor and their dangerous QB Robert Griffin. Alot of experts are calling for an upset, but need I remind you that Baylor is 0-3 vs TCU since 2006 including a 10-45 drilling at TCU last year.
TCU easily covers the 3.5 points, Take Em To The Bank!

Other CFOD Top 25 Action
#19 Michigan State (0-0) (-34.5) vs Youngstown State (0-0)

Thursday Night Wrap Up: Wisconsin Rolls But Doesn't Cover, Mr. Diehard 1-0

No surprises last night. Well, maybe Kentucky struggling against Western Kentucky, but outside of that all of the favorites handled their business.

#23 Mississippi State 59  Memphis 14

Mr. Diehard's Take: Color me 1-0 with my Thursday Take Em To The Bank pick with Mississippi State easily covering the 31 points by the 3rd quarter. Vick Ballard looked spectacular with 10 rushes for 166 yards and 3 TDs including a 66 yard TD run. QB Chris Relf was solid going 13/21 for 202 yards and 2 TDs and WR Jameon Lewis had 4 Rec for 113 yards and a TD. The offense put up a whopping 645 yards and the defense looked solid.  Next week at Auburn is going to be very interesting.

#13 Wisconsin 51 UNLV 17
Mr. Diehard's Take: Russell Wilson looked spectacular last night going 10/13 for 255 yards and 2 TDs plus 62 yards rushing and 1 TD, a 46 yard spectacular scamper. Montee Ball steamrolled the Rebels defense with 10 rushes, 64 yards and 3 TDs plus 67 yards receiving and a TD. Louis Nzegwu led the defense with 2 sacks. The Badgers get a tougher opponent next week at home against Oregon State, but this team looks scary!

# 25 Arizona State 48 UC Davis 14
Brock Osweiler threw for 262 yards and 2 TDs (both to WR Aaron Pflugrad). Vontaze Burfict Jr. led the defense with 3 sacks.

Other games of note:
Utah 27 Montana State 10
Syracuse 36 Wake Forest 29 OT
Kentucky 14 Western Kentucky 3

Week 1 Thursday Night Matchups

Finally toe meets leather tonight as College Football kicks off. The only grip I have is that there is not a decent game tonight, but after an offseason of scandals I will take just about anything.

Every Thursday yours truly will give you a "Take Em To The Bank" point spread pick and Saturdays you will get 7 picks. For entertainment purposes only unless you are some sort of degenerate gambler who has nothing better to do than to listen to some Joe Blow with a blog. Also, if a Division 1 school is going up agains a sister of the poor Division II school, I will not even lower myself to try to review it.   So let's get it on!!!

Mr. Diehard's Take 'Em To The Bank Thursday Night Special

#23 Mississippi State (0-0)  (-31) at Memphis (0-0)

ATS Trend Fact: Memphis 1-4 ATS last 5 at home

Mr. Diehard's Take: After trashing Memphis last year in Starksville, I don't see a reason why Mississippi State doesn't roll over one of the weakest teams in Division 1 football again.
Bulldogs roll!

Mr. Diehard's Pick: Mississippi State -31

Other CFOD Top 25 Games:

#13 Wisconsin (0-0) (-35.5)  vs. UNLV (0-0)

ATS Trend Fact: Wisconsin 1-4 ATS last 5 vs UNLV

Mr. Diehard's Take: This is the Thursday night game of the week? The debut of former NC State Star QB Russell Wilson is the only highlight in this yawner. I expect the Badgers to run all over these guys and the starters to be out of there by the start of the 4th Quarter.
Wisconsin whips UNLV!

#25 Arizona State (0-0) (-36)  vs UC Davis (0-0)

Mr. Diehard's  Take: 2 key matchups this week. LSU/Oregon in Dallas is the premier matchup with BCS Title ramifications. Boise State/Georgia is the #2 matchup with Boise State trying to prove that they can take on a top SEC team and Georgia seeking a win over a Top 10 team. Notre Dame/USF is an interesting matchup. My Take Em To The Bank Picks coming later this week.
